Superintendent's Message

Message from Mr. Benedick

August 16, 2021

Dear TSD Families,

As we near the start of school, our community is like many others around the country in that it is experiencing an uptick in COVID cases.  The Delta Variant is expected to peak in our community sometime in September or October.  Although mask wearing is optional per the approved Tuscarora Health and Safety Plan, both the CDC and AAP recommend mask wearing while indoors especially those who are unvaccinated.

We have reposted the symptom checklist and ask that families complete this checklist each morning before sending students to school.  Please do not send students to school if they are experiencing any symptoms of illness.

There will be other “better practices” measures in place while we continue the goal of in-person learning for our TSD students.  Details may vary by grade level but we will social distance our students as we are able.  We will assign seats in an effort to limit the number of interactions.  We will encourage outdoor learning while maintaining adequate ventilation in our buildings.  And, or course we will continue to maintain clean buildings and provide ample opportunities for handwashing and sanitization.

While we are anxious to begin the school year of in-person learning, we are aware that brings with it some level of risk and interruption.  I will update our TSD community frequently as we navigate this challenging situation.

Thanks as always for your support.

TSD Best,
